Steel City Athletics, LLC Information for 2025-2026 Season
The Steel City Athletics, LLC organization was established in 2020 dedicated to promoting excellence in girl’s fastpitch softball. Our organizational focus is on assisting our players to excel academically, develop skills, build confidence/self-esteem, mental discipline, leadership, and personal strength that will allow them to play competitively at their highest level. Steel City Athletics, LLC and its staff are committed to teaching the value of success on and off the field through the spirit of sportsmanship, hard work, determination, and dedication.

Tryouts and/or open player spots by team will be announced as they are scheduled and the information is available. New Team Alert - Steel City Athletics 13U Grala
Please welcome Matthew Grala to the Steel City Athletics where he will manage a highly competitive 13U team beginning in fall 2025-2026. The team will be practicing outdoors in Zelienople and indoors in Robinson and West View. Tryouts will be announced at a later date but if you’re interested in more information you can email matthew.grala@gmail.com.
Coach Grala graduated from Blackhawk High School where he played baseball and has lived in Western Pennsylvania his entire life. Shortly after he graduated in 2001 he enlisted in the Marine Corps and has spent the last 24 years in the military. He currently lives in Beaver, PA, with his wife Amy and 3 kids. Coach Grala has coached softball for 5 years, from 8u to 12u. Before that he coached youth baseball for 3 years. He strives to develop versatile, skilled athletes by emphasizing strong fundamentals, teamwork and overall player development.
New Team Alert - Steel City Athletics 10U Szymarek
Please welcome Lynsey Szymarek to the Steel City Athletics where she will manage a highly competitive 10U team beginning in fall 2025-2026. The team is looking to adda few more players to their roster for the upcoming season. Tryouts will be held on Monday, June 30th from 6-8 p.m. at 211 Kolasky Drive, Belle Vernon, PA. Coach Szymarek is a proud graduate of McKeesport High school, where she was a four-year varsity starter on the softball team. She continued her softball career at the collegiate level and gained extensive experience competing at the highest level, including ears of travel ball with the Renegades from 10U through 18U. With over eight years of coaching experience at teh middle/high school level, Coach Szymarek has led and developed athletes at both McKeesport and South Allegheny. Her passion lies in mentoring youth athletes and helping them unlock their full potential both on and off the field. Coach Szymarek is dedicated to building strong fundamentals, mental toughness, and a love for the game in every player she coaches.
11U - Steel City Athletics 11U Williams will be holding open tryouts on July 24th and August 7th in Belle Vernon, PA. Looking for 1st year 11U players ONLY. 15U - Steel City Athletics Charlton/Shroyer is seeking highly motivated athletes. Tryouts are July 9th, 16th, and 23rd at 490 Bessemer Road, Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666.
